How does the rig actually keep bait away from crabs?
Each rig uses a sliding swivel trapped between two barrel swivels. That sliding swivel is what suspends your bait 6-12 inches off the bottom, high enough that crabs can't reach it, low enough to stay right in the strike zone where gamefish are cruising.
What kind of fish is this rig designed for?
It's built around halibut and striped bass, but the sliding-swivel setup works for any bottom-feeding species that hunts just above the sea floor rather than right on it.
Will this work on my pier, or is it built for a specific spot?
It's designed to work on any pier, jetty, or breakwall, the mechanism doesn't depend on a specific location, just a bottom you're fishing near.
